Mahjong Tales

Played mahjong with my granddad over the hari raya holiday. My grandfather is old and senile that's why we're playing mahjong with him, however we think he's acting blur all the time. He displayed very fast reflexes when my aunt leant over in an attempt to help him with his cards, his right hand shot up to block his cards from her and he didn't say a single word. So my mum asked him, "Why did you put up your hand?" to which he coolly replied, "I scared people peep at my cards" (direct translation from hokkien). His display of fast reflexes were not limited to that instance, throughout the game even when my aunt leant over just a little bit, his hand would shoot up. Then halfway through he had to have a toilet break, when he got up he made a lot of noise and worried he'd fall without his walking stick. He has a limp and he's quite fat with rather skinny legs for his frame, he's always worried he'll fall especially few months ago he fell 2 times in a week. But when he was coming back from the toilet, he was walking very fast sans walking stick and my mum was like "Where's your walking stick?" and he goes "No need lar, I can walk fine without the walking stick" and he was limping very quickly as well. Now you know why they say mahjong is good for the aged. Makes them think, improves reflexes, performs little miracles and makes him happy. Well we had a good laugh trying to steal cards (from the floor), pass cards, peep at cards from the wall to give him the right cards to eat.

Visited Dee's place earlier for hari raya and she treated us to a sumptious spread of snacks and food. Had so much fun that i couldn't bear to leave to play mahjong. Hehe.
