Nostalgia & Comfort Zones

Had a gathering with my ex-colleagues from Denny's, whom most of them i've not met or kept in touch since 2000 when i left the shop. It's quite fun seeing the people whom you used to work with change or not change the way they are, the way they look and seeing some of the other people whose names are always brought up in conversations but never had a face. Plus they were really nice and fun people to hang out with even though i was the youngest and might have had a generation gap (which seemed nonexistent last night). I guess nostalgia always sets in, that's why people like the past where everything is comfortable and without pain. Well there might have been pain but once you've walked down the road and you look back at it, time numbs most of it and makes most things pleasant. It would seem then that it all boils down to comfort zones isn't it. But sometimes we're afraid of change and the pain that will come along with it, that we forsake future happiness or major anguish for the pain that we've come to manage and accept through our daily lives.

What i'm saying is not new, but sometimes it's good to remind ourselves that only we can choose to step out and grasp our own happiness. But another part of the equation is whether you can see the sun hiding behind the clouds or you choose to see only the dark clouds.
