Warlords
I caught Warlords thrice. Yes, for a person who doesn't watch movies more than once this is some sort of an achievement. To not get bored of the show and its contents after the first time. Well the first time I caught it with Amos and was smsing Jon the Man U & Liverpool match updates, with my brother giving me live feeds. Lol. So I kinda missed some parts of it here and there. So when Jon asked if i wanted to catch it I said ok since I didn't really get to watch the show in its entirety. The 2nd time was kinda weird, I was very impatient for the show to end. Not too sure why either. That's the kind of feeling I hate since I already knew most of the show so you tend to anticipate what's gonna happen later. 3rd time my parents wanted to catch it so I said ok since I haven't been spending much time with them. The 3rd time I actually enjoyed it the most without the impatience, which is really strange! This i really do not know how to explain. Maybe mentally I was telling myself to not anticipate what's gonna happen and just watch it for what it is. So i actually enjoyed it most the 3rd time round.
There's just something about chinese epics that Hollywood cannot capture, I love the sweeping expanse, the sincerity in storytelling or maybe it's a cultural roots thing, that I love the phrases they spoke that we only see in our textbooks but don't use in our daily life anymore. I thought Warlords actually married some bits of hollywood cinematography into the entire moviemaking without overkilling it. Such a nice touch to it, without losing the balance.
