Here's another way to help.

Dear YEP Alumni,

Season's Greetings. I hope this email finds everyone well and that all the Nov/Dec out-going YEP teams escaped the wrath of the tsunamis. As I write this email, the death toll is over 125,282 and still counting. It is estimated that millions will be homeless, injured or never to be found.

As we recover from the shock of the impact, NGOs locally are responding to the humanitarian needs of the affected countries. Experts are warning that a much greater tragedy is looming as diseases are expected to break out on an epidemic scale. Many of you have contacted us and YEP managers indicating your interest in fundraising for the Tsunamis victims. That's the YEP spirit! We can all contribute to relief efforts in various ways.

Action and support for re-constructive needs in affected areas

SIF has set up the Tsunami Affected Communities Fund (TAC Fund) to assist with community rebuilding for the affected countries, especially India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Thailand. Through SIF’s partners and contacts in affected communities, we are collating information on the needs of affected communities as the situation develops.

Some of the affected communities are the very host communities that some of you have journeyed on your YEP experience with; people you know. Some of you have already started fundraising for them. The TAC Fund will support aid to and rebuilding for these communities:

Information updates on the TAC Fund and fundraising activities will be available at http://www.sif.org.sg/yepa starting from 3 Jan.

How can you contribute to relief efforts?

A. Action and support for various agencies doing immediate relief work

Find out how you can help.
There are many agencies who have reacted very quickly and are collecting money or donations-in-kind for the victims of the catastrophe. It is heartening to know that the Singaporeans are queuing up to donate. Do go to http://www.nvpc.org.sg/tsunami/index.htm to find out how you can contribute. And spread the word!

B. Join YEP Alumni for the TAC Fund street donation drive on 21-23 January 2005

YEP Alumni is supporting the aid and reconstruction throught the TAC Fund by organising a street donation drive from 21-23 January 2005.
Please encourage your family and friends to volunteer with you. More information and volunteer registration will be available at http://www.sif.org.sg/yepa starting from 3 Jan. Please register by 18 Jan.

C.
Encourage monetary donations in aid of Tsunami Affected Communities

Spread the word and build aid and reconstruction support for the affected communities through the TAC Fund from family, friends; everyone you know.

Please join us to help these communities pick up the pieces and re-build their lives. To make monetary contributions, visit the TAC Fund web page: https://www.sif.org.sg/ca/donation.asp. You may choose to donate via cheque, bank draft or credit card.

All cheques are to be made payable to "Singapore International Foundation" and mailed to “TAC Fund (YEPA)” at the address below. Please remember to provide the following details on the back:

D. Join the YEP Alumni team supporting aid & rebuilding efforts through the TAC Fund

Join the team and assist by designing fundraising collaterals and website, organising logistics and volunteers for the SIF street donation drive, etc.

Organise fundraising projects/activities/events in your school/institution/company/place of residence in support of purchase of aid to or rebuilding efforts in affected communities. Please propose your project at http://www.sif.org.sg/yepa from 3 Jan onwards.
